      Re: Problems with site

I had the Forbidden page too. At the time I was using my Sky BB line from home. Only after the rule had been removed did I get the service back. If you're going to try again and want testers I have access to Sky and Virgin media (cable) from home.

It was definitely not a DNS issue unless your URL was hijacked to go off to another location, but I doubt it very much given the message that was received. But then it all came back when you reversed your changes which suggests very much that it was down to the change itself.

I'm with you re Phorm by the way. A very nasty development indeed.

      Re: Problems with site

Something has happened, which just does not make sense. If this website was blocked out through our own doing, ie by messing about adding the domain to be blocked, logic tells me that all visitors would be blocked.

However, nothing else has changed in all reality, the only thing that we have done is block a single, solitary domain and caused nothing but problems.

Was it before 1.30pm definitely that you could access Keir or afterwards?

Has been OK here in S Wales AFAIK. Of course there could be another explanation, but it would involve Sky's assertion of merely being 'interested' in a company like Phorm being economical with the truth - I think I feel the old paranoia kicking in again!!!

Thanks for trying though - good idea IMHO.
      Cheers

      Re: Problems with site

This is getting bizarre. we just tried briefly blocking the domain webwise again, out of 4 people involved in trying it at the same time, 3 out of 4 could reach SkyUser, the fourth could not, yet could on a VM connection.

Were the 3 out of 4 also using Sky BB?

      Re: Problems with site

Yes, which is weird, however I have webwise blocked in FireFox for cookies, two were using IE7 with no cookies blocked, the fourth I have no idea as I haven't asked him yet.

Update: The fourth tester had Safari on two different machines, one for Sky and one for VM

I give up - there is just no logical explanation.

      Re: Problems with site

It can't be Sky running Webwise, even experimentally, or the impact of your change would have been across the board.

It can't be browser-related - because the chap with the two Safari two different routes on separate machines and ISPs, one worked, the Sky one didn't.

Could it be cookie-related? Just thinking aloud. The test was not completely controlled. It should be run again, twice - once with all the browsers as they are now, then again after the cache and cookies have been cleared. This will either eliminate or implicate the cookies and/or cache.
