We have very kindly been given a trial of the full version to try for a week.

This has now been upgraded to download from a different location and so hopefully will be more consistent.

We have now purchased the software to run the Speed Tester and are pleased to announce that we have now made this live and taken out of Beta.

All of the tests and results that our website records are now being captured and SimpleRules once again is coding us a nice results of average speeds and the relevant ISP's display page.

Also a big thank-you to Janusz, of Broadband Packages for giving us the necessary reporting scripts and recommending the suitable hosting for our Speed Tester to produce as near as possible, accurate results.

The amount of people that have spoken / posted / PM'ed myself would indicate that there has been a huge improvement in the results that are now being obtained.

Please, be aware that the results are time limited and that they will only record the results into our database at a rate of one per every 10 minutes. This is to cut down on our server loads etc.

In the past 24 hours, we have recorded nearly 2k of results into the database, and so far the top 5 Speed Tests taken, are from the following ISP's.

1. Easynet
2. NTL Internet
3. British Telecommunications
4. Be Un Limited
5. Cable & Wireless Telecommunication Services GmbH

At the lower end of what I normally achieve, but similar to a broadband max test run immediatly after. With a face plate that must be 20 years old, and 10 metres of internal extension lead I'm happy.

We have now added the Top Ten ISP's results to the page. The results are dragged straight from our database of results that we have captured, and are generated in real time on refresh or viewing of the Speed Checker page.

I think the Speedtester should download a little more than what it does as it doesnt seem to get the max speed, I see it throttling (horrible word ) up but it cuts out before it maxes out

We have extensively tested this and modded it, it should be pretty accurate now.

As previously noted we had issues with download speeds, but the files are now cached in 6 data centres and so should pull down no problems.

If we do the speed test from our server, it shows a pretty hefty speed, even if at high speeds.
