This has now been taken out of Beta and is in operation. Thank you to SimpleRules and those involved in the testing / development.

      @ ackers

Your problem should be now resolved.

      Re: Exchange Checker (beta)

Bear in mind the checker, assumes that you are exactly that distance from the exchange telephone line wise, where as in reality it might go right round the town before the line gets to you.

Try the Attenuation figure Pete, that's the important and most reliable figure.

      Re: Exchange Checker (beta)

      I am a little confused.

I am on Max and getting around 13mb download speed.

I put my details in the checker and it says I could get 24mb and my exchange is LLU enabled.

Contacted Sky who said they knew nothing about Sky LLU and that as I was on the Max package that this was the fastest I could get.

Is this true or am I doing something wrong or do I just not understand it!!

      Re: Exchange Checker (beta)

How have you done the test, by distance?

Go into your router and get the attenuation and input that.

      http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/view-routerstats.html

We are debating whether to pull the distance option, because it assumes you are actually that distance connected by line of sight rather than the path of the cable actually takes.

Sadly the training and experience of some of Sky's support people isn't all it could be.

Max is a LLU product offering router sync speeds of up to 16meg. The speed you get is down to a number of factors such as attenuation (line length) and line quality. See the first sticky in my signature for more info. Download speed is not the same as sync speed.

If you're getting 13meg download speed then that's about right for a 15-16meg router sync due to transmission overheads. You have a great connection - as good as Sky can offer.

      Re: Exchange Checker (beta)

A handy little checker for the SkyUser site.

A little redundant for me though... as I'm now on Sky

Switched over at around 4pm today, exactly on the date in the Sky letter. So far I'm sync'd at 2880kbps (long line so wasn't expecting more) though throughput seems a little low at just over 1.2mb speeds (~160kbps download - 1275kbps being the highest speedcheck from DSLZone site) compared to my 1mb fixed speed which would give me pretty much 120kbps.

Anyway, thumbs up again for the exchange checker tool, Skyuser.co.uk is getting better everyday .

      Re: Exchange Checker (beta)

For some reason, it shows up that my exchange is LLU enabled but they have put me on the Connect package. After speaking with Sky, they have stated that LLU will not be available for another few months...
