How to obtain your username and password from the sky router

Hello! thanks for your effort in getting the username and password off the NetGear router for us but it doesn't seem to have worked for me. When I enter that url I get prompted for the username and password. admin and password doesn't work. Telnet to the router doesn't work either.

Is the router I've been given an updated vesion or something? In which case I guess you've got yourself a new challenge?!

Unless you have changed them the Sky router access user name and password are admin and sky.

To put it simply, the instructions on my webpage and the various tools posted in this thread all allow you to achieve the same result. That is to get the ADSL username and password off your Sky router so that you can use another ADSL router with your Sky Broadband account.

Of course it is against Sky's T&C's to do so but what you do is up to you.

OK - summary

The Sky router (unusual amongst ISPs) generates its own user name and password. Also, again unusually, Sky have locked out a small number of features in this router including the ability to view either of these or allow advanced router interrogation.

Jose very cleverly found a way to bypass this using a trick called URL injection. Using Jose's method it is now possible to view the Sky user name and password meaning that you can use these in an alternative router to connect to the Sky service.

Mognuts further built upon Jose's work by creating a small utility to use this URL injection (and a couple of variations) to access a number of other router statistics and reports.

Jose, perhaps I should add an option to the new version of my app that pops up the user name and password in the screen. Then all they need do is install the app, select "Show Username and Password" and away you go. What do you reckon?
