7800N beta firmware for SKY (1483MER) NOW WORKING!
originally posted by timc
Billion UK Forum • View topic - 7800N beta firmware for SKY (1483MER) NOW WORKING!It has taken us a while but we now have a beta firmware for 7800N that has been tested working with Sky broadband. Sky unlike most UK ISPs uses 1483MER encapsulation and to make it more difficult, they have slightly modified it and therefore the long wait. Information from Skyuser forum was the key and we couldn't have done it without them. Also many thanks to those customers who help us out either by giving us the right information or help out with the testing.
This is currently a working beta release and a offical one should follow in few weeks time.
If you find any connection problem with this firmware, please feel free to report it. But for this firmware we are Only interested in connection related issue and nothing else.Last edited by NewsreadeR; 05-04-12 at 03:49 PM.

Just remember I posted it first.

I'm running a 7800N so for me this is great news if I'm forced on to MER.

It will be nice when one of our members tests this to confirm that it works. If it does other manufacturers can probably do the same.
Why not try it now? Your exchange is probably MER enabled(if that's the correct term).I'm running a 7800N so for me this is great news if I'm forced on to MER.

Well I'm trying it now.
Seems OK so far. I'll try it for 24hours or so & then probably go back to my original firmware & settings.
I'll keep you all informed.

Re: 7800N beta firmware for SKY (1483MER) NOW WORKING!
You should be able to save the current configuration and restore it once you have updated the firmware.
If you are concerned, screen dump the settings to make it easier to type them in again.
Yes I do know that it can be risky, I've had to do a similar procedure with my own DGND3700 for each beta firmware.
Edit: Ok, you are trying it out.

Interestingly my SRNM has risen from 6.0 to 7.2 under MER.

I wonder if Billion will make this firmware available for their other models?
