Telnet read-only

Hey all,

I'm using a NETGEAR DG834GT with V1.03.87 (CU3.04), and I was just wondering if it's possible to get write rights on telnet?

I was trying to wget an image, to overwrite the http://192.168.0.1/settings834GT.gif but failed, so I tried to remove it.

# rm -rf settings834GT.gif
rm: unable to remove `settings834GT.gif': Read-only file system

---

I was going to give DGTeam firmware a go too, but it seems outdated now?

You cannot. AFAIK, the firmware is on read only memory and the firmware is loaded from each boot. The only place you can write to is /tmp and that is only because it is ramfs. When you reboot the router, anything in /tmp is gone.

If you really want to replace the image, you have to grab the CU sources and replace the file in target.tar.bz2 and then flash the resulting firmware to your router.

No, if anything, DGTeam is probably the most feature filled firmware out there. I took to modifying their firmware recently and adding in some features I wanted.
