Unhappy cannot log-in to router suddenly @?!

Hi there all, first time here but u all seem to know ur stuff about sky and their butchered firmware machines so here goes :P

For as long as I can remember i've had control over everything on my DG834 sky router and had no problems, however recently I reset all my private data in firefox (have done this numerous times and had no problems), and ever since my router password/username will not work... It can't even be the firefox issue because it wont log in on IE either

The internet itself works fine, I have tried reseting to factory defaults then trying the "admin" / "sky" combination and it simply will not let me in,

If anyone can help, thanks

Re: cannot log-in to router suddenly @?!

it seems that the router is just refusing to default to factory standards, is there a better way of doing it ? (i think that it is keeping the settings i made anyway since ports which i have previously forwarded are avaliable to use for programs (upnp is disabled i did all the port forwarding via services/rules)

Sounds the like router could use a deep reset -- I'd suggest a visit to netgear.com user forums and look for any posting by a moderator called jmizoguchi. Links on his website discuss various options for resetting routers.

Re: cannot log-in to router suddenly @?!

well, i was optimistic after finding his post, tried his reseting methods including the 1minute "hard reboot" 20seconds on/off/on method, and it has still retained its settings,

could it be that the reset button is just broke somehow? :S

edit:actually scrap that, its not broke because the router goes into its "alternate lights" mode etc when its held down

You could try updating the firmware, well putting the Sky firmware back in it again,I would imagine that that would set everything back to scratch. I think there is a copy on the Sky CD that comes with the router.
