Filtered Paceplate and Fax machines

Hiya,

I have fitted a new Solwise ADSL filtered faceplate at my parents house and all is working fine except faxes. Are there known issues with these faceplates and fax machines?

The fax machine in question works fine when connected to another telephone line.

Thanks

Yes there can be. I have never had any problems with a BT faceplate, or ADSL Nation one.

Re: Filtered Paceplate and Fax machines

Do you mean "Yes there can be problems with fax machines when using a filtered faceplate" or "Yes there can be fax machines plugged into a filtered faceplate"?

If the former, do you know of a solution?

Re: Filtered Paceplate and Fax machines

Sorry. Yes there can be problems with fax machines and some filter faceplates. The solution is a ADSL Nation Filter face plate , or a BTvi faceplate filter. I would go for the ADSL Nation one, as they are easer to get hold of.

Re: Filtered Paceplate and Fax machines

At the moment, the fax is plugged into the front socket of the faceplate. Could I terminate this behind the faceplate - would it make any difference?

Re: Filtered Paceplate and Fax machines

you cannot terminate it behind the faceplate as it'll then be unfiltered off your BB leading to all sorts of issues...buy an adslnation faceplate and be done with it...
