WOL on latest SKY v1.03.87 Firmware DG834GT

Hello,

First post, after shadowing forum for some time.
I have read almost all of the technical posts but can not find a solution to the WOL (Wake on Lan) issue on DG834GT (not that I can follow, anyway!)

I have tried the Custom Firmware provided by the community - which flashed perfectly and allows access to the telnet daemon.

Ideally I want to access my router web interface remotely and perform my WOL from there.

I don't mind creating my own new image, and would like to use the latest Sky firmware v1.03.87 - to include this feature. If only I could find some clear instructions as to how to do it!

Can anyone give me any pointers? Or if I can use another method? (I read somewhere about creating static entries in ARP table?)

I currently use the firmware listed as 'V1.02.09 -UberGT 1.06 beta4'
It works very well, I dont have any problems with it.

This firmware has the WOL utility built into it, and such I can wake up my pc using the interface.

I really hope someone will be able to combine the wol utility (which is going to be a function within the html configuration of this beta firmware) with the newer sky firmware.

Its very easy to set up the wake on lan, there are hundreds of tutorials on the internet, so i will not go into it here.

I have an ftp server setup on my pc that I wake up, which means I can wake up my home computer from work, access the files via ftp, and then shut it down again (by using a custom ftp command)

Yes, I have seen there are several custom firmwares, latest I can see available based on 1.01.32
Including the custom firmware developed by DGTEAM, but again I do not believe there is a version based on the latest SKY Firmware.

Should I be worried about using non SKY firmware for the router?
Will it give me everything I need to conform to the SKY Firmware upgrade? (Or will Sky keep sending me SKY Firmware 1.03.87)

I seem to be one of the few that have experienced no issues with loss of connection. With a rock stable connection.

I know there has been talk of SKY perhaps auditing routers for installed firmware - perhaps unlikely... but a possibility?

Is anyone within the community developing SKY1.03.87 Firmware for DG834GT with WOL functionality? Or am I missing something and could I be using the current Community version of 1.03.87 with telnet daemon enabled to give me the functionality I require?

yes and no...

in affect, using another router/FW is in breach of T&Cs you signed up for...but at present Sky aren't enforcing this but might in the future...

Sky service is basic, bare-bones broadband...advance features aren't supported so unless you can get the router to do it then you're stuck
