Yes, it should do.
The Recovery Utility looks at the image file in its folder and sees which router model that image is intended for. When it sees the firmware image for a DG834GT router, it looks specifically for that model.
But what happens sometimes when the reflashing process fails half-way through, is that the router can become "confused" about what kind of router it is and ends up thinking it's a DG834PN. So when you start up the Recovery Utility it looks for a DG834GT router, but all it can find is a router that thinks it's a DG834PN.
By following the steps in my earlier post, you can "trick" the Recover Utility into thinking that it needs to look for a DG834PN router. Once it's found your router, you then swap the firmware image files around, and it flashes the router with the DG834GT firmware that you actually want on the router.
EDIT: forgot to mention that it was forum user digitaldazz who came up with that little trick. It's saved many a bricked router.
