SKY Firmware upgrade failed

Last night Sky tried to upgrade the firmware on my router and as a result they have screwed it up.
at the moment the power and tick light blink alternatly.
I tried to use the netgear firware recovery wizard but when i run it no device is listed. it should show my router but it dosent.

Sky have said they will replace the router but it will take up to a week for it to arrive. I have the exact same model router and would prefer to use that in the mean time but i dont have the PPP username and password.

Is there anyway to get my sky router working?

or

does any one know the password to setup my net on a different router?
The username i think is "maccode@skydsl"

You're not the only one -- check other postings for standard advice. This is to go to netgear.com and download the DG834GT recovery utility. There are tutorials on skyuser which will help you use it -- specifically the ones aimed at extracting the user name/password embedded in the Sky router.

Thanks but i have already tried that.
i have had a look through the posts but all of them show that the router is visable in the device screen of the recovery wizard and as mentioned my router isnt seen in the device screem

Oh well, sounds like you'll be waiting for a new router. Or looking at the tutorial on extracting user/name password to use on different router -- I don't suppose Sky would mind if you used that temporarily.

You can get the username and password from James's password generator by using the details printed on the bottom of the router.

How were you trying to upgrade? Were you using the option in the routers menu?

Thanks for all help fellow nerds.........

I managed to run the fix by attaching the router to a PC that wasnt previously attached to the router ( dont know why my own laptop didnt work)
I have managed to upgrade the firmware and have pulled my Username and password so i can use that on my own router just incase.
Ill try the router when im back at home and ill let you know how it goes.
