I think my Router is Bricked

I downloaded and installed the new firmware for my V1 router. It started the process and said please wait... but after an hour timed out but the lights on the router was still flashing amber so I left it over night. This morning when the lights stopped flashing but nothing was happening on the explorer window so I reset the router, the tick and power is flashing amber and I can’t get into the router. Can someone please help???

Re: I think my Router is Bricked

I trust you weren't trying to upgrade by wireless (rather than with the computer connected to the router by ethernet cable as recommended).

It looks as if the router is stuck in Recovery Mode. I suggest you go to netgear.com and download the DG834GT recovery utility which is specifically designed to sort out this issue.

Be warned that the utility (and possibly firmware upgrades) don't work with every Network Interface Card (I even had trouble with a Netgear NIC) so be prepared to try other computers.

Re: I think my Router is Bricked

Yep you will need a copy of the tool and the firmware, if it won't recover then call Sky tech support and tell them the 2 lights are flashing, they will replace the router for you if it cannot be recovered. Obviously this will mean a wait for the new router.

Cool Re: I think my Router is Bricked

I have to admit, I upgraded mine to the new f/w via wireless, solely because I wanted to brick it. (the rebel in me) Lo and behold, it worked
