It wasn't working because I had two .img files in the folder

All up and running with dg834 v3 firmware now, got to admit I think i've had a couple of dropouts so far and the speed hasn't gone up. But seems ok for now.

Just wish there was a way to hack the SNR settings with this firmware.

Re: DG934 - Hacked - running official netgear firmware

Great thread guys.

Bought a DG934 yesterday on another forum - followed the instructions on here and it wouldn't play ball on my works pc.

The recovery utility would show my nic card but the 'device list' screen never appeared, instead, the nic sreen would
"superimpose" itself on top of the following screen which showed Model No/CurrentVersion/UpgradeVersion/ServerName.

Disabling av/firewall etc had no effect.

Was beginning to think I'd bought a brick.
Put it back in the box, plugged it into my home pc last night and it went exactly as described in previous posts.

Now running on BT Broadband with the Netgear DG834Gv3 firmware 4.01.37

Thanks for the easy to follow instructions guys - Gold Medal on its way

Homer

A massive "thank you" to Isitme and Digitaldaz for their excellent and informative contributions.

I've got the DG934 flashed and running firmware v4.01.28 on talktalk.
Downstream: 8123 kbps
Upstream: 446 kbps

I was a bit hesitant to reboot the router due to previous users having problems, but both the Mac and router have been powered off/on with no connection issues.

Re: DG934 - Hacked - running official netgear firmware

Router running 51 hours without any problems.

One query - the downsream noise margin is currently sitting between 1 & 2 db,
surely that can't be an accurate figure?
My old BT Voyager 2091 always sat between 7-10 db with similar stats.

I'd have expected several reboots at such a low figure as 1-2db.

I am 3km from the local exchange on the BT Max ADSL product and have had a very reliable 2-2.5MB for 3 years
[even though line checkers always report the line 'may' support 1MB but not 2MB].

Line attenuation shows I'm not exactly knocking on the exchange door

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 3904 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 53 db 15 db
Noise Margin 1 db 22 db

Was tempted to do a few reboots myself to try and get a slightly lower speed with higher noise margin but
then thought why bother - if the db drops too low the router would do that anyway.

I think that figure would be false, the V2 Netgear is renown for doing it.

Now running on BT Broadband with the Netgear DG834Gv3 firmware 4.01.37

8 days without a problem

Great work from digital dazz who took the time to check out the appropriate firmware
and in providing us with the walkthrough flashing guide.

Many thanks

Homer

Re: DG934 - Hacked - running official netgear firmware

Hello All & Everyone.

I've just bought a cheap DG934G, just to mess with. But I like it better than the White DG834GT we have got.

Right, could anyone tell me if this is ok? I've FLASHED the DG934 with DG834V3_V4.01.37.img firmware,

1. Now my INTERNET light is ORANGE instead of GREEN. But still connects to the internet. Should that light be ORANGE? It was GREEN before the Flash.

2. It takes approx 3 to 5 mins for the DG934 to actually connect to the internet. Is this right after a flash?

Thanks for any info on this.

Re: DG934 - Hacked - running official netgear firmware

I've seen other posts which refer to this. Apparently it will flash green when data is being transmitted. No idea why the change.
