so can you use the sky firmware with o2 ?
|
No. The Sky firmware does not allow you to put in any connections details like username and password, which you will need with any other ISP.

Re: DG934 - Hacked - running official netgear firmware
O2 doesn't require any username or password. So, if you tried to use the Sky firmware, the username and password would be incorrect (should be blank), plus the network type, multiplexing, VPI, VCI would all be incorrect for their LLU - not sure about their Connect equivelent.

I would have thought that the 585v7 is better than the DG934G (Broadcom vs AR7, respectively).

Re: DG934 - Hacked - running official netgear firmware
Hi guys, I noticed that the DG934 router is already configured for the username and password for the relevant Sky account. If I wanted to put the Netgear firmware onto my sky router, for the sake of the extra functionality, but I wanted to keep using Sky - how could I do this without losing my account information? (I'm assuming that if I lose the information in such a way that sky will charge me for a new router)?
Any help is appreciated!

Re: DG934 - Hacked - running official netgear firmware
Hi,
I've received my new DG934 today ready for my activation on the 24th.
I just have a quick question. Is there any advantage is using the Netgear firmware over the Sky Firmware? Do Sky restrict any functionality etc....

Re: DG934 - Hacked - running official netgear firmware
There is some restricted functionality, but you would be well advised to leave things as they are, at least until you are up and running for a while. If you change the firmware this is much the same as using a different router and Sky will be unable to give you proper support. Apart from this, the Sky firmware allows the router to be updated automatically, which the standard firmware will not.. Under the T & Cs you must allow the router to be updated, so you will also be breaking these if you change the firmware.
