Re: DG934 - Hacked - running official netgear firmware

I am currently a sky customer but I am sick and tired of constant disconnections which take up to 5 minuets to reconnect.

I use to have a dg834g v1 that was perfect but since I am stuck with this dg934g (aka the v3), I was wondering whether this hack will stop the disconnections and improve the overall connection without fear.

When will Sky learn to let us be and use our own hardware?

Re: DG934 - Hacked - running official netgear firmware

I too have successfully flashed my DG934G thanks to this thread.

The recovery utility could not detect the router from my Vista pc. On my XP pc it all worked perfectly.

Web interface now says I have a DG834G running V4.01.37.

However, the Internet light remains solid amber even though I am connected to my non-Sky ISP. All other lights are solid green.

Can anyone explain this?

Re: DG934 - Hacked - running official netgear firmware

i hope you guys can help, i have a DG934 router which does not work with my wireless printer. i also have a older white router which does work with my printer.
i have flashed the older netgear with a netgear firmware and its ready to go, problem is i have entered the username and password that sky mailed me but the white router does not connect, it errors with chap authentication. Is there a way i can get the adsl username and password from the DG934 so i can get my older router working.

FYI
the username and password i entered on the older router was
Examples: 1234@sky.com
Examples: 1234
these are what sky said they were.

Re: DG934 - Hacked - running official netgear firmware

Not sure why you flashed the generic firmware in the V1 router? It should work with the Sky firmware. Moreover, if you want to steer clear of Sky's firmwares (I still use it after all this time!) James has a handy web site for generating the passwords for all models: https://www.cm9.net/skypass/

Post DG934 - Hacked - running official netgear firmware

Hi,

I've got a Sky dg934g router, it's locked to Sky. Received the Sky cd, but could not locate the utilities directory, [I'm running a Mac/OSX], tried installing onto a pc laptop, same result. I have all the required s/w to unlock the router, except the dg934g .img file.

Can somebody please upload that particular file to rapidshare or another file sharing site, and include a connecting link in your reply. The filename should be:

dg934g-1skuks-v1.02.26.img or
dg934g-1skuks-v2.02.34.img

Serial no. on box is: 250-10962-02 version 3.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: DG934 - Hacked - running official netgear firmware

If you want to unlock the router from Sky then you will have to flash it with the firmware for the DG834gv3, available from HERE

The files your are seeking are included in the full GPL code. James very kindly removed the actual firmware and made it available separately. As he explained above it is no longer required to obtain the user/password which was the original reason for it's use and has been removed. You may have to download the full file if you really need it and it is quite large.

The image file you will need to 'trick' the router, as explained in Post 3 of this thread, will be on the Sky CD. You do not need to install it, just open it in Explorer and you will find it. Sorry, I don't know how you would do this on a Mac, but if you have access to a Windows XP machine it will be easily found.

^^^^^^^^^
After your connection is made, you should be able to re-enable your firewall and AV. The firewall is not so important with a router, but you must get your AV running as an unprotected PC is very vulnerable and can be infected in minutes.

Re: DG934 - Hacked - running official netgear firmware

Hi guys,

My sky cd has the old v1 firmware not the v2 i'm running on my router.

I cannot find me router when I try and use the flash utility. I have tried on 2 machines, both with disabled av + firewall.

Any ideas? Would REALLY like to get this flashed, I hate the sky firmware!!!
