Re: DG934 - Hacked - running official netgear firmware

You can get the Recovery Utility from Netgear directly. What you cannot get from there is the DG934 firmware file, and that is needed for the first part of the script. Allegedly

Re: DG934 - Hacked - running official netgear firmware

I have tried doing this but now the router is stuck in recovery mode. When starting the upgrade it states erasing eprom then my laptop went blue screen and restarted. Its running vista and my wifes dell lappy is also vista but both blue screen. I tried it on my sons xp desktop pc but it wont even see the router for some reason.

Anyone any ideas?

It also has no device id now so wont go any further.

Re: DG934 - Hacked - running official netgear firmware

forget my above post as I read all posts and found that if I chose the 834g firmware it worked.

All flashed now but as others reported it knocked my adsl off my line with that router and now I am using my dg834gt(which is slightly faulty). My line took a while to sync up though and I thought I was gonna have to call talktalk. Something strange about it on a talktalk line tho like some others have said.

Also how do we know which version of the dg834g router it is as there v1,v2,v3 and v4? It has v3 firmware on as of now?

Re: DG934 - Hacked - running official netgear firmware

Some help please. I am using Vista and when I run the Recovery Utility it wont detect my router. All it does is crash the system (blue screen ect) I have turned of all the anti virus ect but still no good. Is my only option to put a fresh install of XP on my computer instead or is there a way round this ?

Re: DG934 - Hacked - running official netgear firmware

The recovery utility will apparently run under vista if you right click the utility and select "run in XP compatibility mode" (or something like that).

However after a blue screen on the original white routers routers they are left believing themselves to be DG834PN's rather than DG834GT's which is why the utility can no longer detect them.

I have no idea what state it may have left the DG934 in.

Re: DG934 - Hacked - running official netgear firmware

A big thank you to Digitaldaz and everybody else who contributed to the thread.

I have now got my DG934 unlocked and it is up and running, I am using it now on Pipex. I have rebooted the computer and the router several times during the last 24 hours and there dosn't appear to be any problems.

I downloaded the DG834G V3 firmware Ver 4.01.06 from the Netgear site.

To start with you definitely need the original DG934 upgrade folder from the original SKY CD.

Cheers Frank
