Re: Community Updates for the DG834GT

As the Sky firmware does not support WDS, the CU update wont. I have it on mine and there is no access to WDS. See James' post 32 in this thread.

Can you point me to the FW which supports WDS? I have a DG834GT which I would like to up date to try it. Previously my request for this got a negative response on the Netgear Forum.

PS Not the Sky one I am using.

Re: Community Updates for the DG834GT

Does this support wired bridging, i.e. using the Netgear as an ADSL modem that I can plug into the WAN port on my gigabit cable router, a DIR-655?

You can connect the Dlink to the Sky router by ethernet cable plugged into an ethernet port on the Dlink, not the WAN port. It would allow you to access the net with the Sky one while giving you superior wireless speed through the Dlink. Quite a few use this type of set up.

Re: Community Updates for the DG834GT

Yes, that's what I'm doing now, but unfortunately it doesn't let me use the fancy-schmancy QoS and other features as they only apply to WAN->LAN traffic - so my Bittorrent's still slowing down the rest of the network when in use...hence the question about bridging.

Re: Community Updates for the DG834GT

Have you tried plugging into the WAN port? I did not realize it was purely a router without a modem, so it may very well work OK.
