If I were to get a sky V1 router from ebay, would it work on my line so i can get my password from it?

I ask because I have a quite expensive Linksys router, and its just going to waste.

the usernames are router specific so you wouldn't be able to use another modem to get them...the username is the router MAC address and the password generated from that...

      so in a word, no

Actually, I believe it would work, yes. Just get the username and password from the old router and stick it in your Linksys. Job's a good 'un. In theory.

until said username/password from eBay router gets blocked cause someone doesn't pay their bills and you're left with no connection...OR you don't pay your bill, get blocked and so does the seller and then you're really without a paddle...

Dazzy is this your only reason? If so then is it really worth trying anything to get the username and password?

If you had a problem on your line and you knew and could prove that a linksys would solve this, then fairy nuff. But doing it, and possibly being left with no alternative other than to brick a router, simply just to do it...
