Yes it is legit. There is a link in the email to an FAQ on Sky's website:
      https://www.sky.com/help/articles/fibre-max-faqs
You say, "what's the catch"? Good question. At the moment the only catch I can see is for those already on Sky fibre max who will be paying over the odds for a service that other customers, like you, will be getting at a lower cost.

      Re: Great News

      Hello highdef
Just chatting to a couple of friends it appears that Sky are upgrading everybody on Fibre Unlimited
to Fibre Max at No Cost .......Until the next round of increases at least....!!!!!
( not sure about changing the Hub) but you can get these at various outlets anyway
I assume that Sky will be aware of any increases on BB prices would be attacked by other suppliers
trying to attract their Customer Base.

      Just a Thought...............
      !!!!!

      Re: Great News

I'd love to get Fibre, but the only way it will happen is if I pay the whole of the cost of ripping up the whole street to install it.
My street (and only half of it) is the only place for 5 miles that does not have fibre. I can see two exchanges within a mile from my front door.

      Re: Great News

I don't know if being on the wrong side of the M42 could be the cause of your problem but according to Magenta Systems all PCPs on Polesworth exchange are either fibre enabled or are due to be by early next year. The only other problem is if you are on an Exchange only line. I take it that you don't have the option to use Virgin Media?

      Re: Great News

My half street will never get fibre to the property.
It should have had cable when that was first introduced many years ago, but the water board had the street dug up when it was put in in this area. 50 yards up the road have it as do 50 yards down the road and the streets that backs onto ours on both sides have it. There is just his group of 20 or so houses in the whole village that missed out, and unless the powers that be FORCE the companies to put it in, the only way I'm going to get it is to do it privately, with all the costs.
