    should i bother to ask to lower noise margin

    This is a discussion on should i bother to ask to lower noise margin within the Speed tests and how to get better results forums, part of the Sky Broadband help and support category; as the title says, should i bother to ask sky to lower my noise margin to the ~3db noise margin? ...

      should i bother to ask to lower noise margin

      as the title says, should i bother to ask sky to lower my noise margin to the ~3db noise margin?

      stats:
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
      Connection Speed 18011 kbps 1076 kbps
      Line Attenuation 16 db 7 db
      Noise Margin 7 db 7 db

      i apparently synced at 18mb down 1.3mb up, i don't see how that with the upload :P

      but ye i though it would ask. seeing as bt have further delayed my fiber install date....it keeps getting delayed further and further back.

      FTTC Connection: download:40,000. upload:10,000. 5ms ping
      ADSL Speed:
      Connection Speed 18013 kbps 1087 kbps 16db 7db attenuation7db 7db noise
      Download: 15351 Kbit/s
      Upload : 957 kbit/s
      Connects : 2891 conn/min Ping: 19 ms

      If you were to phone Sky you could ask them to run DLM on your line and it may improve your connection speed.

      Looking at my own Line attenuation you could get 20mb.

      Before you do call though, check to ensure that you have made the most of your connection (i.e. plugged into the Master Socket, use a filtered faceplate or renew the microfilters).

      Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms
