I have recently got Sky unlimited broadband, I live <100m from exchange and think I could be getting better speeds, I was quoted 12-20Mb on signup . Also any advice would be good, do you think I need to plug into the test socket ect?

if you have gone over 10 day period then line can be reconfigured should get higher sync rate but first check for possible noise or interference plus if router was switched over 10 day period line config can be lower , check test socket against normal setup if big difference possible interference if any improvement would noticed as slight gains in noise margin .
if no change simply give tech support call they can get line reconfigured

When did your WAN Uptime last reset? If it was just a few hours ago, DLM is still running. You should let it complete. If it is over 72 hours it is probably completed so you should call Sky and ask them to configure your line manually as DLM has left it too low.

I was a few days into the DLM, Decided to check test socket (Which brought down attenuation to about 6.5Db) then removed all extension cables from socket, as there are not used, plugged router into regular master socket and remained at 6.5Db (down from 8ish) 2 minutes after phonecall, Sky phoned me back to say my speed has increased to maximum. Happy customer hahah!

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 19995 kbps 1157 kbps
Line Attenuation 6.5 dB 6.1 dB
Noise Margin 7.9 dB 9.2 dB

Re: Good Line Attenuation? What can I do to help speed?

The guy on the phone actually said I could get 24 on the line but sky only go up to a max of 20Mb which I didn't argue with!
Something strange has happened though, I think DLM is still running as I woke up today and the noise margin has increased and my speed decreased to 16Mb router reports attenuation of 8Db down.
Ill ring them and report back

If the attenuation is jumping there's a problem somewhere
be it in your house or external
mine is the same 24/7 year round and my line is alot longer than yours
