      Sky Fibre Unlimited

      Hi

I had Sky fibre installed today and the spped is a lot faster than i was getting on Sky BB Unlimted obviously!! But i dont think im gettin the speed i was predicted i would get. When i first checked when i orderd it said i would get 37mbps but when i do a speed test it only shows as 18mbps.

So my question is does this seem right or is something a miss??

      Cheers

Are you using wireless or a cable?

Could you try installing TCP Optimizer and run it? Afterwards could you redo a speed test please.

      re: Sky Fibre Unlimited

Sorry to waste peoples time but think ive sorted it. When i done the speed check with the cable i used my laptop which is a bit cr@p and it gave me 18 mbps but just remembered ive got a 10 metre cable here so hooked it up to my desktop comp and i got 37mpbs.

      Cheers for the replys.

      Sorry again

      re: Sky Fibre Unlimited

      Not at all a problem.

After some research this afternoon, it appears that BTO/BTW has capped many people on BT Infinity.

The cap should have automatically been lifted, but a phone call is required to get it fixed.

For anyone else caught with this, please check your speeds with again with a different Ethernet Cable and then check this post: Sky Fibre Speeds and TCP Optimisation

Reading the thread on the BT forum yesterday, the symptoms were identical. The problem appears to be with BTO capping the speed between the home and the exchange.

On further reading there was a post which identified the issue.

I can't check things myself, but I have provided the links to the thread and post in the thread I have linked above.

If someone with SFU who has a problem with being unable to get a speedtest result greater than 24mb could contact Sky with this information and report back to confirm if it has work, then we'll all know if this is the correct answer.

      re: Sky Fibre Unlimited

I know you're sorted now, but I read today if you are consistently not getting the speed estimate, within 3 months you can cancel penalty free.

Your PC must be an absolute shocker to be having such a negative effect
