To make sure whether your voice line is causing issues, if you can plug just a corded phone into the test socket and then dial 17070 (option 2 for quiet line test I believe) and then check whether there are any crackles/static/popping you can hear. If so, then get in contact with your line rental provider - if it is BT, then call 0800 80 01 51. If it is Sky, I can't remember the direct number to sky talk, but just call 0844 241 0515 and then ask to be put through to sky talk line rental technical.

Re: Help Broadband Speed is Awful

Hi everyone thanks for your help but the BB speeds are just getting worse.

To make matters worse Sky have now upgraded my account details because I've gone over my monthly download limit. They even promised greater download speeds as a carrot to compensate for the increased cost.

What a cheek their connection can not even reach 1meg let alone the figure of up to 20meg.

I'm now looking around for a new ISP but want to make sure it's not a fault I can fix so avoiding a pointless change.

I've posted my current stats, if anyone has some advice I'd be really grateful.

Many thanks

Jason

Re: Help Broadband Speed is Awful

If you have just been upgraded you will be on DLM. It seems to have taken your speed very low, so I would call Sky and ask them to trouble shoot your line for speed. It looks like you will get about 3 Mb, which is still quite low for your attenuation.

Re: Help Broadband Speed is Awful

Hey

All sorted

To say I'm surprised is a massive understatement. Customer service actually worked. WOW!

Apparently the line wasn't authenticating so the full speed wasn't being recieved.

From 0.7meg to 6.2meg in five minutes.

Thank you Sky and everyone who offered advice.
