Sky Broadband Low Speed mulitple internet applications at same time.

I got myself a sky max package and just two days back it was activated . Tried doing the speed test and this is what I get .



Which I feel is fairly okay .

But this is the problem I am facing

Applications running at the same time using internet .

1. Utorrent
2. SKype
3. Surfing

If I am downloading a file using utorrent and the download speed is less that 2 mb and the upload speed ( controlled ) at 5KBPS my surfing speed reduces , skype calls start breaking up. The moment I stop utorrent everything is just fine. This is not only limited to Utorrent but to any download I do . Same thing happens if I am on skype and I try to surf.

This never happened when I was with BT and was getting 2mbps.

Can this be possible or am I reading something incorrectly.

Have you tried limiting your dl as well ?

yeah to 8mbs and 5 but same issue

Your port forwarded properly?
I take it you mean kbps not mbps as you have posted, if its mbps youve totally choked your connection.

Okay Sorry , This is confusing me

On UTorrent I have set a download speed of 500 KB/S and upload speed of 3 KB/S . My Understanding is 500KB/S will be approx equal to 4MB of speed. Which will still leave me with nearly 6MB + of free bandwidth based on the speed test that I have done .

I hope this does not sound stupid .

Is this set on the Max download limiting also the max upload rate limiting ?

Your speedtest shows that your sync is excellent - you should have plenty of bandwidth to do the things you want.

This makes me wonder whether you are wireless? If so then I suspect that's the problem. Wireless is a poor medium for carrying large amounts of data and will often perform worse as throughput increases.

Yes I am using the Sagem wirelss router . Could that be the problem .

your upload speed is too slow m8 try 20 to 40 kbs up see what happens
