Hi all i need to know if you can help. I've been on the MAX package for about 2 years and the router was always syncing at 14meg but now it is nowhere near. speedtest.net used to say i got 11-12meg now only 4-5. These are the stats off the router tonight

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 9788 kbps 796 kbps
Line Attenuation 33.0 db 19.5 db
Noise Margin 6.8 db 12.5 db

Re: wtf has happened to my speed

are you in your master/test socket? cause if you are then you've got a line issue as with that SNR at present you'll get nothing more...

Re: wtf has happened to my speed

try it your master/test socket and i'll 99.9% expect to see old speeds...you have NO idea how many speeds issues are down to rubbish extentions...

as for what SNR is, perhaps read the sticky in the cabling/faceplate and router stats forum as it's got all the n00b q&a in there...should really read all the sticky posts at time of joining - saves a lot of unnecessary questions...

Re: wtf has happened to my speed

For some reason people just do not believe that leads can fail, extension leads may work well enough one day and be completely pants the next. Get it in the master socket or test socket as suggested and see what happens to your stats.

Re: wtf has happened to my speed

The world of broadband would be a much happier place if everyone paid a little attention to their wiring (it would also be better if Openreach and the ISP's got together a bit more as well, but that is a differant issue)
