connection test speeds, are they ok?

I am on the mid package with black netgear router. The router is plugged into the master socket. According to sky i can only achieve 4meg but from what I have read over the last two days on this forum I am confused, looking at my router stats I would expect more? I have a high noise margin, but my ping times are also terrible. I have sent a KAna form off last night with the hope of reducing my max delays as Im a keen online gamer and want to reduce the lag I seem to suffer. here are my stats and speed tests, and thought or input as to whether these are good/bad would be appreciated. Im going to be reading this forum lots in the mean time and catching upwith all the many useful posts I have seen. Where to start..

Router Statistics

System Up Time: 10:04:28
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
WAN PPPoA 11692 16400 0 704 5018 00:59:42
LAN 100M/Full 58619 38408 0 1850 391 10:04:24
WLAN 11M/54M 8291 3572 0 109 16 10:04:10
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2848 kbps 384 kbps
Line Attenuation 46 db 13 db
Noise Margin 9 db 13 db

not great I assume? and these from the other server

Re: connection test speeds, are they ok?

Have you tried connecting to the test socket, this is behind the faceplate, just undo the two screws and pull the lower part off.

This will remove any internal wiring that may be causing a problem. With your stats you should be getting around 6Mb

Do the stats again from the test and post. If you have problems on your line, reducing the max delays will only make things worse, you would be better ensuring that your line was as good as you can before doing this, otherwise Sky may reduce your max delays and also put a speed cap on to ensure the line is more stable.

Re: connection test speeds, are they ok?

Hi,

Yes these test were already done from the master socket behind the test panel, thats the way its plugged in normally, as this is only line being used in the house. would it make a difference that my land line is plugged into the other socket on the sky adsl filter?

just did the test through the PS3 web browser, and ping times to london were a horrible 174 ms

I don't quite follow you here. What do you mean, ''the other socket''? You say you are plugged into the test socket. When the faceplate is removed from the Master to allow you to do this, no other sockets should operate. If they do, something is wrong with your wiring.

Do you mean your phone is plugged into the other side of the filter? If so it should make no difference, unless you have a faulty phone.
