Re: Sky MAX - Poor connection Speed

Your attenuation is quite high but you should be getting better speeds so it looks like a cap situation. Can you tell us where you are plugged into on the tel line, how many sockets on the line, are they all in use and is your sky tv plugged into the line via a filter?

Re: Sky MAX - Poor connection Speed

You appear to be capped at 1024, probably due to faults in your wiring. Read this article and take your stats from the Test socket, then post them here.
Sky User - The unofficial support forum for everything Sky! How to test your Master Socket

One thing you should understand, you are using an 'Up to 16MB' package, but with your distance from the exchange, you will never get anything like that. If your external line is very good you may get around 3-3.5MB.

PS I have just noticed you have posted the same thing in another part of the forum, you should really not do that as it leads to cross and duplicate posts.

Re: Sky MAX - Poor connection Speed

TOMD - Thanks for the advice. You mention faults with wiring. I live in a brand new house with new telephone connection etc, could this still be an issue? If yes then I will try the process for testing the master socket.

Jessie_Lou - My router is plugged into the main phone line that enters the house. I have two sockets in total. One is used by my phone / wireless router and the other is used by my sky box via a filter.

Any suggestions?

Re: Sky MAX - Poor connection Speed

Here are my stats when plugged into the test on Master Socket.

Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
WAN PPPoA 318 319 0 1052 2313 00:01:38
LAN 10M/100M 17984 0 0 7 0 143:21:54
WLAN 11M/54M 5725505 2825847 0 5602 489 143:21:46

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 1024 kbps 412 kbps
Line Attenuation 56.0 db 36.5 db
Noise Margin 15.3 db 12.0 db

Does this help?

Re: Sky MAX - Poor connection Speed

Very often new houses are worse than old for wiring, mainly because they are usually done by contractors whose only interest is to get the job done as quickly and cheaply as possible. Test it from your TEST socket.

Re: Sky MAX - Poor connection Speed

This shows that your extension wiring is interfering with your broadband signal. I would recommend buying and fitting an ADSL Nation faceplate plug your router into this and most of your problems will be over.
