      does speed matter

why is having a high speed internet so important, when your lucky to get at tops 1.5 mb of download speed which probably last a couple of seconds.

isnt it better to have a 3 mb speed which works better?

      Re: does speed matter

I'm not sure what you mean by this, the importance of a high speed internet connection is relative to what you use it for. I think you may be getting confused by the numbers, I still do, an optimum 16meg connection downloading from a fast server should realise around 1.5mb/sec tho this is rarely achieved due to overheads etc. I might be wrong but I dont think any provider is capable of providing 3mb/sec which would equate to a 32meg connection. The fastest is be with 24meg which is only achievable if you live in the exchange - lol. Sorry if i've misinterpreted what you were asking and if i've got my figures wrong someone will correct me.

      Re: does speed matter

i didnt make my self clear sorry
on an 8mb line i can only down load at 1.5mb/sec at the max

      so what the point

why not have an 3mb line which is slower than the 8mb but will be still able to download at 1.5mb/sec and at a better quality(higher snr)
