I very much doubt you will get 54Mbps with a USB 1.1 adaptor it seems a little on the old side for that but I could be wrong I have never used one myself my laptop uses a Netgear WG511T 108 Mbps Wireless PC Card.

As for it getting hot I would assume thats normal.

Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.

After running TCP optimizer should I reboot the router as well as the PC?
Also do I need to change anything in the router settings?

I wouldn't worry too much about the USB adaptor getting hot. It seems to be the norm as mine is sitting there like a small coal fire, too.

      Talking

      Thanks LNB,

Followed your instructions for TCP Optimizer and went from 3.5Mb download to 11Mb instantly.

My sync speed is usually around 15000 kbps so theres still something slowing me down, so I will continue to try and figure it out, but I am now very much less unhappy.

      Thanks Again
      Robbie
