      Re: XenForo

I believe it was born from some of the developers / coders from vBulletin, before they were bought out by IB

They left and launched a competing product from what I can make out.

Whilst it does appear to be a very good alternative, the changes for us would be a little too much in all honesty.

We had a shed load of custom work done for us on vBulletin and the CMS etc as they both bridge together.

Not only that, we would then have to get it reskinned to match, and then recode all the bridges between the forums and CMS

So it's not a definitive we won't be changing, just there are no current plans to do so.

No worries, it does look awesome, there's just too much work involved (and cost)

      Agreed.

Now that you said it I've noticed that most of the sites which I know of who have switched to this were involved in some sort of data corruption and were starting from scratch or similiar.

I think the 'cool new look' played an important role in playing down the loss of data and attracting back users.

      Re: XenForo

vBulletin has gone down a slippery slope the way they have changed since being bought out.

I know a lot of people with forums, have swapped over to XenForo and yes it would appear to be a better more smarter product.

We really need to change to vB4 but there are over 850 bugs last time I looked, and for us to do so again presents the same issues. The bridging and CMS would need sorting.

But then chances are the Speedtester would then stop working, as it was specifically coded to the CMS and to vB so that users could then log their results against their forum accounts etc

It's catch 22 - Once we get the new server, we may just bite the bullet and upgrade to vB4 and hope that suff still works.

Didn't realise it was that complicated.

Good luck sorting it out. =)

Cheers, things should start happening soon, I have already asked the guy who designed the V2 Skin if he can convert the V3 one to a vBulletin 4 style.
