      Newby wants more

      Hi all,
I have the D-link sky modem, as I understand it only has 2 useful yellow ports, is there anyway I can have more as I have the tv, blu-ray and freesat demanding a port each. Thanks.

You can use all the ports, anything you have heard or read different is incorrect.

Whilst the green port is supposed to be prioritised for the Sky+ HD STB, and the yellow ports prioritised for PC style traffic, as Tom has stated, you can actually use all 4 ports.

If this isn't enough, then you can connect any of the ports to a network Switch. Place the switch near to your TV and you can then easily connect all the devices to the router.

The Network switch need only be rated to 10/100Mb, unless you are planning to upgrade to a 1Gbit LAN in the future.

A cheap 5-port switch will cost from around 4. 1Gbit switch are a little more (around 22-25 at the cheap end).

The Switch will need an Ethernet cable to link it to the Sky router.
