Sky ads causing browser to freeze ?

I'm frequently getting long delay with both IE and Opera when on skyuser -- it seems to coincide with the current Sky ads with moving snowfall graphic.

When I check Task Manager (by pressing Ctrl Alt Del) it shows the browser is still running so it's not apparently a freeze -- but the delay is so long that it might as well be. I generally end the task and go off to another site so I'm, apparently, being driven away from skyuser by Sky !

      Brilliant.

      ummm

I don't suffer from this issue. I could swap them for none flash ads, if that helps?

Do you mean the delay when the ads load but you have to wait for any thing else to load up before you can do any thing ?

The Sky ad appears to be running -- but who knows ? Flash has frequently caused problems in the past for myself and some others -- to the extent of begging Yahoo to dump Flash ads because I couldn't get to my email..

Frankly, any system which demands that one loads their software and clog your computer just in order to see a bunch of ads is pushing its luck.

      Brilliant.

Is this any better now? I have changed the URL for serving (was skyuseradserver.co.uk) to the website URL so it does one less lookup via DNS.

The ads are served to us via an agency, and I know they have had issues on DNS and resolving, which may count for a slight delay on load.

This way now, there is one less step for the ads to show, and hopefully now will go to resolving the issues that you have had.

Re: Sky ads causing browser to freeze ?

Right now seems fine -- though the bigger Sky ad panel has been replaced by one for BE Broadband.

Anyway, the problem hasn't happened the last few times I've visited so I'm happy whatever the solution was.

Re: Sky ads causing browser to freeze ?

Correction to the above, the freeze/delay is back when the larger Sky snowflakes ad is displayed.
