Re: New Ads - malware ?

This morning I hit refresh on the Broadband forum and found myself redirected to malware-scan.com that appeared to be doing a "free" scan. I did a quick google and found that there are plenty of warning about the site and how it has been using fake ads to get itself loaded

      see Malware-scan.com / Newbieadguide.com hijacking Yourmusic.com banner ads - Dynamoo.com

Afraid I have no idea what the ad was but I guess it is still around

      Re: New Ads

We don't serve Pop Up ads, as we appreciate how annoying they are. We have two reports that we get, daily and weekly. Looking at today's there are absolutely none for that website. When I get the weekly one I can double check again.

I have just checked every Ad that has been shown today and none of them link to a Red site, on the inventory that I have available, which possibly means that something is wrong with the reporting, if we can narrow down where the Ad has come from, I can take the matter further.

Please try and get me the type of Ad if it happens again. ie Location of the ad, Top, Left Hand Side or Bottom of our site, as it is zoned and so can be blocked that way.

Update: We use 3 networks for our ads, and so have taken the step of disabling the Network from America in the hope of pinning this occurrence down.

Further Update: We have now reduced the banners down to just two Agencies. We have also zoned off the website, so any of the forum pages are now only served by one company. Therefore we should now be able to pinpoint this accurately. If this happens again whilst browsing the forums, we will now know which Agency it is that has served the offending Ads.

Thank you for the report, we have emailed all 3 Ad Agencies with our user's concerns to get further clarification.

AM I right in noticing that all ADs are removed until then?

If I am then it shows the good service and importance you give to your forum users.

      Re: New Ads

I am in the process of changing all the Ads to our own. We take all reports seriously and do not want to be known as a bad site.

      Re: New Ads

We have now suspended all paid adverts.

All ads shown now are served by ourselves and so should stop any further reports. Giving us time to find the rogue banner/s.

      Re: New Ads

We have received the weekly list of our main adverts this morning and it would appear that this Agency is not the one that has the rogue adverts. Therefore we have made the decision to block the 2 alternative ones, and use our rotation for the fill of site, when none are available to show.

Please continue to give us feedback in this thread.
