Re: Activated, no router, sky sending password...

      A general question..........

Apart from the fact that sky supply new customers with the netgear router - does anyone know if they advertise that the internet can only be accessed by using their routers? I don`t recall being told this when i enquired about the contract, nor do I recall having read this anywhere! If i am mistaken and it is in the contract - what happens after the 12 month contract is up, am i then free to choose my own gear or is this a lifetime comittment for as long as you stay with sky........ which is something I also don`t recall reading about?

      Hi

      3. The Wireless Router

      (a) As part of the Sky Broadband service Sky will supply one Wireless Router to you under this Contract.

      (b) You can choose to either install your Wireless Router yourself (“Self Install”) or have SHS install it for you on Sky’s behalf (“Home Installation”). If you choose Self Install, SHS will send your Wireless Router on Sky’s behalf to your Address and you must comply fully with all reasonable installation instructions and advice that SHS or we provide to you. If you choose Home Installation you should read the terms and conditions for Home Installation (set out at the end of this Contract). You may have to pay for Home Installation. We will tell you the amount of this fee before charging you.

      (c) Your Wireless Router (except the software in it) will become your property on installation if you choose Home Installation, or on delivery if you choose Self Install. The software in your Wireless Router is owned by or licensed to Sky or another member of the British Sky Broadcasting group. You must allow this software to be updated. Updates will happen automatically at no extra charge.

(d)Sky Broadband must only be accessed via your Wireless Router. Your Wireless Router is not supplied as being capable of being used to access any other Internet service.

from here: Sky.com - Sky Products>Broadband>Terms and Conditions

Without sounding rude, you should always check any terms and conditions of any contract before purchasing, it could be in there that Sky owned your car after year 3 or so.

Re: Activated, no router, sky sending password...

Having read your last post, are you under the impression that we are Sky? As we are not, we are here to help people unofficially, and unendorsed by Sky.

I totally agree with some of your view points, but not reading the T and C's before entering into any contract is completely your fault not Skys.

Re: Activated, no router, sky sending password...

No, I am simply pushing to find out if you and sky are working behind the scenes together..... that`s all?
I promise you 1000% we are totally unofficial, Sky do not or have never asked us in any way how to run this forum.

Sky monitor this forum daily, they are the 22nd best visitor since 21st December 2006.

      Do they listen to us?
      Do they care?
      Do they get involved?

Only Sky can answer those questions.

I`m sorry, but please don`t take offence if you read something that "reads" as if you are running sky.
No offence taken, the only things we censor on here are personal attacks, swearing, commercially sensitive information.

Ask yourself though, if Sky controlled this forum, would the story about Picnic Broadband been published or not?

I highly doubt it seems as Sky still won't admit to it. I get the feeling we rattled some people's cages with that story.

Newsreader, sorry to digress, but how do you differentiate between Sky and Sky customers? I take it you are using a reverse lookup?

Google Analytics shows us the domain that is used to access this website.

As you can see the Sky Customers are driven by IP and then classed as Easynet , whereas Sky themselves are actually the 17th best visitor in the last 30 days.

Is that a free service? I use an invisible Java counter on my site and it is all classified as BSkyB not Easy.

Re: Is SkyUser ran by Sky?

i was only basing it on the fact that user was giving the laptop away so assumed it was Sky...
