      Help I am going MAD

I have been trying to get in touch with sky to change something which I thought would be relatively straight forward to chang. I cannot get any further forward with this. Could someone help me or advise me what to do. This is the email I sent to Sky - I have also tried phoning them - no further forward. Has anyone had any problems if they have tried to to this.

I am trying to change the name of the account holder from my husbandís (current sky account holder) to the account to my name. His contract expires on 8th August 2007. The reason I want it changed is that we have separated and he no longer lives at this address. Although he is the current account holder the account has always been paid through my bank account by direct debit . I am having little success of changing the account holder details when I telephone about this to Sky services. Please advise. Thanks

Sorry I should have told you that it is a basic sky digital TV account - not Broadband -

Under Data Protection Act rules, I doubt sky will deal with you as you are not the registered account holder.

If the account name needs to be changed, the request would have to come from the actual account holder.

Government legislation i'm afraid, sky cannot legally discuss the account with you.

Maybe you could cancel the payments and forward any demands to your ex. When Sky get round to cutting of their service, apply for it under your own name. You will then qualify for the 'sign up' goodies new customers get, like £30 for you and a friend. You may have a bit if a problem, as Sky will have your address on record, but you should get round this by signing a statement that the previous account holder has moved to another address. It is unlikely you will be able to effect a simple change of name, as the first thing you will be asked is 'Are you the account holder?' If you are not, they will not deal, for as has been pointed out, this would be illegal.
