      Ok.....now I'm getting somewhere.

The trick is not to edit the settings, but recreate the the account from scratch using the settings posted above.

The info supplied by Sky is accurate, but it's contradicted by the supplied graphic.

      http://prod-help-sky-com.s3.amazonaw...nderbird_L.jpg

Port 993, and although it says pop.tools.sky....it has IMAP at the top.

Once you manage to loose the IMAP - which curiously stills works on another machine for incoming ( imap.tools sky.com on port 993), problems seem to resolve themselves.

I hope this helps other people.

I think the graphic was only there to show you what you had to change. ie, port 995 for 993 as it says in the written instructions.

      I did that, smarty-pants.......it still didn't work.

I say again...start from scratch.....lose the IMAP @ the top on the graphic where it says "server type".

      PS

This would appear to be an email client problem.

You can't change it at the necessary level just by typing in POP.

It was your graphics that pointed the way to the cause.

      ...and my keen eye.

If you'd like your outgoing Sky Yahoo Mail messages to display another one of your email addresses in the From: field, instead of your Sky Yahoo Mail address, just follow the steps below.

      1. Sign in to Sky Yahoo Mail.
      2. Click the gear icon in the upper right corner of the window and select Settings.
      3. Select Accounts, followed by Add.
      4. In the Add Account window enter the following information:

Email address: This is the email address you’d like to send email from – from within your Sky Yahoo Mail. Please note that you'll be asked to verify this address.

Description: This is an account name for your own reference, which no one else will see for example, Work, School, etc.
      5. Click Save.
      6. You’ll need to verify the email address that you provided. To do this, check your other email account and you’ll have an email from Yahoo with the subject line "Verify this email address." Click the link inside the email to verify your email address.

Once you have completed the steps above, you‘ll be able to send emails from your other account. Click on the arrow to the right of the From field when composing an email and you’ll be able to select which address the message is sent from.
Does this mean that for EVERY mail id I want to use the Sky SMTP server as a relay for I need to register it as an alias against my own account?

I ask as I have been running a mail server at home with ids for several members of my family with a dynamic DNS pointing to my inbound mail and skyuser as my outgoing SMTP relay. I was able with the brilliant solution, and support, provided here to be able to do this without hassle.

Anyone done anything similar and have you a working solution?

      Thanks.

Re: Send an email from another account

Hi - I agree with the other comments about being so grateful for all you did to keep us all working for so long. I have just logged on for the first time in ages to see if I could see why my email was no longer sending. I have followed the instructions to send form another email and that all seems to have gone OK except I still can't sent emails from my Entourage. I assume I need to change my outgoing mail server to something other than the skymail.com - could you please tell me if you know what that is?
      Cheers
      Lisa

      The server is smtp.tools.sky.com
The other details you will need to know are:
      Port 465
      SSL on
Authenticate with your full sky email address and password.

Only if you are using a non Sky email address. If the addresses are secondary ones to your own account, ie, @sky.com addresses you should not have to do anything.

OK, so for my use where I'm running a mail-server at home with a family domain name and multiple family members having accounts on it and my outgoing mail needs to be relayed through a white-listed SMTP server I either have to alias all the accounts or I need to find an alternative to the yahoo smtp server.

Unless anyone knows if there is a way to register the domain?

      Thanks

Re: Send an email from another account

There are plenty of companies where you can register a domain. eg https://www.google.com/a/signup/?hl=en-GB&source=gafb-globalnav-en-GB ? Google Apps for Business

GoDaddy- Domain Names, Web Hosting and SSL Certificates - GoDaddy

      https://www.123-reg.co.uk/?_$ja=cgn:Register|cgid:622756706|tsid:4474|cn:123-reg+Domains+Desktop|cid:4774586|nw:search|crid:275 18076266|kw:register%2520domain%2520name|pm:|mt:e| dvc:c|adp:1t1&gclid=CK3pv6_Spr4CFSXnwgodmE0Aew

      1 & 1 - http://www.1and1.co.uk/domain-web-ho...140512145441:s

      To mention a few.
