Email sending error - smtp server
Hi guys,
I've set up a new account as I registered some time ago and not sure which email address I used. My parents have been gratefully using your smtp server for quite some time until a couple of days ago when they got the following errors when sending;
An unknown error has occurred. Account: 'Philip', Server: 'mail.skyusermail.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '421 Cannot establish TLS with SMTP server 77.240.11.49:25, SSL_connect error 336032784', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 421, Error Number: 0x800CCC67
Receiving email works fine.
I've scoured your posts and cant find anything in their spyware which scans emails, which i saw was a problem recentyly.
Any ideas to get them back up and running?
Thanks

My apologies, my mother has just told me she is also using AVAST!
Just found the settings and sorted.
Apologies for wasting your time.

Re: Email sending error - smtp server
No worries, one thing you could try is port 465 instead of 25 - And let me know if that resolves it.
We are struggling to find a fix for Avast, but it is being looked at.

Re: Email sending error - smtp server
Thanks. Tried 465 but then got an Avast message saying a secure connection was detected between me and skyuser IP. Asked me to disable the secure connection in the mail program, which is actually not selected.
I've reverted to 25 and disabled the outgoing mail scan.
Thanks again

Re: Email sending error - smtp server
We will post an announcement once we finally suss out what it is Avast doesn't like.
We do not really support SSL and the server uses a self generated one, which Avast would appear to take a dislike to.
I think we may at some point buy a SSL cert and hopefully that will resolve it.

Re: Email sending error - smtp server
One of Avasts's latest program updates has borked it again. It's easily fixed by unticking "scan outgoing mail" in the "Mail Shield". But as you say it's a pain.
