      Question about SMTP

      Hi,
Before I apply for an SMTP account, may I ask a question to ensure it's the solution for me.
I am the secretary for a small voluntary group and set up a gmail account to handle the emails rather than have then through my own email account. However, when I sent emails from the gmail account, any replies would come back to my sky account. I'm assuming thats because they have gone out via the sky mail server ?

Is an SMTP account the answer to this ? Would this allow me to send the emails and receive replies back through gmail, and then via my Windows Live Mail client ?

      Thanks for any advice.

      Andrew

      Re: Question about SMTP

What you are asking about is one of the main benefits of using the SkyUser SMTP account. Those who receive your email will see the account that you are using, not the SkyUser account.

Remember though that there is a daily limit to how many emails that you can send. If you are in the habit of sending out periodical mass emails, then you could have an issue.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

      Thanks for the quick reply.

I would have about 70 - 80 recipients, The T & C sticky mentions a max of 50 emails at any one time. Is that a daily limit, or a single email limit ? ie If I just split my dist list in two would I be allowed to send them ?

Hi Andrew, as long as you don't abuse our SMTP system, then you will be fine.

We turn a blind eye most of the time, but when we get reports of spam being sent we act on it. If it is legitimate email and not spam feel free to apply.

      That's great news.
I'll put the application in asap.

      Thanks again.
