Exclamation Sky User SMTP - Disappointed

My understanding was that applying for and setting up the Sky User SMTP would resolve issues sending from my domain name account to Yahoo accounts. It doesn't! I have a Yahoo account also and have sent to it but the message never arrived. ???

I'm willing to bet money that no-one here, even the admins, are mind readers.
A post along the lines of my mail doesn't work is pretty hard to help.
I would suggest some details are required so clever people can help you find what you have done wrong.

Oh, and welcome

Re: Sky User SMTP - Disappointed

Could be many things inclusing, user setup issue, SMTP issue at the time, domain being blocked, filters on inbox etc.

Check the Yahoo Junk Mail, we have had an issue reported recently with Yahoo, and their over zealous filters. As for the SMTP not working, nearly 400 other people do not have any issues.

At the end of the day it is a FREE service and we have no SLA, so if that is what you are after, you may be best looking for a paid alternative.

Re: Sky User SMTP - Disappointed

All the above comments are noted. However, I am IT Consultant for a living, know how to set up (and test) an outgoing server, set it as default and look for the obvious things like mail in Junk or Spam folders. BTW, I'm not complaining about a free service merely raising the issue so it is known and then perhaps problems can be tackled. On that, mail to AOL recipients are still immediately returned without any apparent effort to deliver. Mail to Yahoo is not returned, it just never arrives. Thanks for the replies. E

Re: Sky User SMTP - Disappointed

Surely a proper mail hosting service would be more appropriate then if you are an IT consultant by trade? Personally I use a hosting package as well as linking into the googlemail system bia my domain and it costs very little to run and is easy to setup.

Re: Sky User SMTP - Disappointed

Hi

I have just signed up for a Yahoo account, and sent two emails using our mail server. However both were in the spam folder. Both emails were received in less than 3 minutes.

Re: Sky User SMTP - Disappointed

I have also just signed up to an AOL email account to test.

Two emails sent, one from my normal SkyUser account and one using the SkyUser SMTP server account. Ironically the email I sent from AOL to my SkyUser address was marked by our server as Spam.
