Spamhaus and SMTP outbound.
|
 |
Hi all,
Although there seems to be a lot of information regarding changes to the skymail etc, personally I have never used skymail.
I have (like many others) my own domain. Historically I connect to smtp.mydomain.co.uk and pop3.mydomain.co.uk.
This has worked for the last two years since joining sky.
This afternoon however, outbound mail is being rejected. Checking the logs etc I get referred to spamhouse.org where my (dynamic) IP is listed with the following comment:
It is the policy of Sky Broadband that email sent from this IP address should be sent out only via the dedicated outbound mail server for the Sky Broadband service.
As my email has always worked before - have I just been "lucky" for two years?
I presume the only outbound email solution is to use the sky smtp application (as documented elsewhere in the forum)?
I can't say I am thrilled with being forced to use Sky's SMTP server. So much for freedom of choice and open internet access.
Thanks
Mark
