I have installed it but it doesn't show on the taskbar or task manager.

I tried it in compatability mode for XP and Vista, still nothing.
I must be the only one that's tried it then.

I'm going to get Windows 7 when it's released, but i'm also on Mid(everyday) so i want to keep an eye on my useage.

Re: SkyUser Bandwidth Meter (open beta)

I am pretty positive it will work on Windows 7 in the future, this is something that is constantly being worked on and improved.

Unfortunately the site that records the usage and presents it is down, and so you would have to check locally on each PC for the stats.

The guy who has coded this is on his honeymoon for the next 8 days, and is already aware of the downtime. Unfortunately also it is affecting the speed tester on our site.

Question Re: SkyUser Bandwidth Meter (open beta)

I've just downloaded and installed this, but I'm having some trouble getting it to actually work!
(I'm well aware that it's a beta BTW.)

The program appears to install OK, apart from a few prompts from Windows Defender, all about changes which I've accepted.

However, when I run it using its shortcut, all that happens is a command prompt box pops up very briefly, and that's it.
No window appears, there's nothing in the taskbar.
I can't read what's in the box fully as it vanishes too quickly, but the first line is certainly "bad command or file name".
Not a good sign!

The program is present in the Add/Remove programs dialogue, and I can remove it and re-install it at will, which I've tried several times with no improvement.

There is no BandwidthMeter process running in Task Manager.

I'm using Windows 2000 SP4, with .NET 1.1 and 2.0 installed.
Anyone any idea what's wrong?

Re: SkyUser Bandwidth Meter (open beta)

Hi Dave

Unfortunately our coder / developer is away on honeymoon at the moment. I will update this with a reply once I have had chance to chat with him.

Re: SkyUser Bandwidth Meter (open beta)

Looks like a useful utility this. Does every PC need to be running the software to upload the stats to give an overall reading?

For me, as Im running Linux, I cant make use of this, but I was wondering, doesnt the router itself have a counter or some stats stored somewhere which logs in / out traffic quantities? Would I have to upgrade the router firmware to access something like this?

Re: SkyUser Bandwidth Meter (open beta)

It has to be installed on every machine, it is not a router based application. Maybe the developers will think about a Linux version and one that will run on consoles.
