      Sky 12 Hour Clock

Is is possible to change from their 12 Hour Clock System to a 24 Hour Clock system. I doubt it
With the current system, programming around, or just after, midnight is a nightmare.
A 24 Hour Clock System, which starts the new day at midnight with 00:00 would be so much easier.

Why do Sky stick with the archaic 12 Hour Clock ?
How do we get them to change ?

      Re: Sky 12 Hour Clock

I too find it inexplicable that Sky is limited to a 12-hour clock.

Sky, please switch to a 24-hour clock!

A 24-hour clock might also enable the Live Sports listing to be shown in correct time order. The Sky EPG programmers seem to be the only coders in the known universe yet to master sorting by date/time.

      Sky 12 Hour Clock

Is it that difficult to remember that 12pm is midday?

24 hour clocks should be left with the military where it was designed for.

      Re: Sky 12 Hour Clock

Always am and pm for me.
I make sure that all my devices like phones, tablets and any other digital clock always shows the 12 hour clock. Even my chromecast speaks 12 hours.
I do repair old clocks as a hobby, so maybe I love the 12 hour clock too much.

Which is right or wrong is immaterial. Everyone will have their own preference. Being given the choice is the crucial thing.

Lettice is only able to exercise his choice because his devices allow it. Something that (currently) Sky set top boxes fail to provide.

      Re: Sky 12 Hour Clock

Back in the early 1970s I had a copal flip clock very similar to this one in my bedroom and remember being fascinated by the time flicking over.
It was am/pm of course, perhaps that too planted am/pm in my mind
I do like the mod to this one though, would love to get one and give that a try. I'm sure mine had a light or the numbers could be seen in the dark though.
But as kids we always had a torch by our bedside. Mind I do now, but its called a phone and tablet.

      In response to Annie UK

I guess the Military adopted the 24 hour clock because if the importance of getting timings right - it is a much more logical system and less subject to confusion.

It seems VERY ILLOGICAL to me that
      If 9pm is 9 o'oclock at night
      & 10pm is 1 hour later
      & 11pm is 1 hour later still
that 12pm should be 13 hours later ( midday ) and not a further hour later

Systems which are logical are much more intuitive than those in which one has to remember a number of rules to get things right.

      Re: Sky 12 Hour Clock

If a little more difficult to read in the form of a 24 hour analog dial, that's confused the **** out of me on occasions when I wasn't expecting to see a 24 hour analog wall clock.

Do military personal wear 24 hour watches? Mine does both, but I have to squint to see the 24 hour dial, and as I say, a quick look it says 9.00 o'clock when it's 6pm... They do agree once a day though.

      Re: Sky 12 Hour Clock

On the twenty four hour clock there appears to be some confusion as to whether midnight is 24:00 or 00:00

      Re: Sky 12 Hour Clock

The 24hr clock is certainly more logical, which appeals to me & 99% of the time would be my personal preference.

For some reason though i'm a 12hr am/pm type of person because my brain just gets there that tiny bit quicker when i see it.
Almost in the same way that metric beats imperial hands down, yet i'd never describe someone's height as "1.83 metres" because they're 6ft.

I agree that sky should offer the choice.
We're all different after all & how hard can it be?
