      Sky+ wont turn on

Please help. My sky+ box is stuck on standby. I've tried unplugging it at the socket for a bit and plugging it back in and waiting but it's been 30mins now and all I have is the power button with the red back light behind it. Phoned sky and they said it would cost £60 to get an engineer out to have a look. Has anyone got any suggestions please

      Greatly appreciated

      Steven

Try turning the sky box off at the mains, and while holding back up on the sky box, turn it back on. Keep it pressed until the update software message appears.
      Hope this works for you.

Same thing happened to a friend of ours and it worked. Never found out what the problem was, but it never happened again. Update us in 10mins and let us know if it works.

Ok, it's updated and switched itself back to standby. Do I wait and keep trying to turn it on or do I unplug it at the mains, wait a while and try to switch it on again like before?

Give it a minute and try to turn it on. Sometimes takes a minute to reboot.

Nice one. As long as your sky box isn't broken, doing the forced update, usually cures most problems.

Thank you very much. I'm very impressed with the help on here and hoping the £60 will come in very useful for the next question I've posted. 😜 (pushing my luck)

No problems. Plenty of people on here are willing to help out, and usually pretty quick.
