ok, so going by the youtube video, point 2 in my previous post here Upgrading SKY+ Box TO SKY+ HD? With AEI Digisender connected. should work.
the only difference between your set up & what's in the video, is that you're using hdmi to connect the sky box to the downstairs tv.
this leaves the scart socket / piggyback thing free to connect to your dvdr for transferring footage over on to disc. (instead of the tv as shown in the video).
if it's not working, i'd take isitme's advice.
go back to basics, forget the dvdr for now, get the digisender working upstairs 1st & take it from there

^scratch that.
so what you're saying is that UNLIKE in the video, your transmitter takes up the female scart socket on the digiconnector?
aaaaaaaaaarrrrrrggghh! lol
if so, we're back to where we were.
sky scart > dvdr in scart.
dvdr out scart > transmitter.
or a hybrid of scubbies & my way:
sky scart > splitter.
splitter 1 > dvdr.
splitter 2 > transmitter

Re: Upgrading SKY+ Box TO SKY+ HD? With AEI Digisender connected.
Are you saying that the scart on your model is different from the one on youtube, ie it does not have a pass through with a female socket at the back? If it is the same then do as shown in the tutorial except plug your DVD into the rear of the sender scart instead of the TV as shown in the tutorial. As pointed out before your TV does not need to be connected by scart, it is HDMI.
If it is not the same and does not have a pass through plug, plug in the splitter, then plug the sender and DVD scart sockets into that. You will have to tune your second TV as shown in the tutorial.
You can check the splitter is working properly by plugging it in and connecting direct to your first TV. If you don't get a picture, it is faulty and that's your problem.

Not all digi senders work with the Sky STBs.
Also where are you locating the Infra red repeater? Take a look at this post: Sky in my bedroom

If the remote worked before with the Sky+ box, the detector may be in the wrong position or it is possible it is just not compatible with the STB. I doubt it is not compatible so try moving the detector around to find the correct position. Just to the left of the centre is the usual position, but try others.

Posts crossed, but if the one you have is not compatible with the Sky box, you can get separate units which do nothing but change the program, they don't send pictures or sound. Something like this.-

Re: Upgrading SKY+ Box TO SKY+ HD? With AEI Digisender connected.
i'm sorry we couldn't get it sorted michael.
i notice the sky+hd box in the video was a thomson model, indicating your dg200 works with some hd boxes but not others.
perhaps if AEI were prepared to reveal exactly which boxes your digisender is compatible with, you could pick 1 up on ebay?
maybe i'm a little less philosophical than yourself, but to me, it's not just the new epg & extra storage space that matters here.
i only have a 'mere' 32" hd ready tv but believe me, the picture quality from a hd box is worth a bit of hassle.
these boxes upscale sd very well imo, the audio is better & there's 5 proper hd channels for free as well.
just my opinion.

Re: Upgrading SKY+ Box TO SKY+ HD? With AEI Digisender connected.
Hi Sorry for the delay in replying to you,in the end I discovered, after speaking to someone at AEI that my Digisender a DG200 is not compatible with the latest boxes from sky as they transmit the signal from the remote to the box in IRDA not IR like my old Amstrad DRX280..I have sent the box back to Sky,within the 7 Day Cooling Off Period" as I got it free as "a sweetener" for being a long term Sky Customer.I am still considering whether its worth me perhaps going for the older HD Box,which all appear to have two Scarts so would be easy to connect my DVDR,but I havent been able to find out whether my Digisender would work with those[AEI said they should work with any box which has scarts but then I told them that I could get a picture and sound but couldnt change the channels with either of the remotes Latest & Older type.Is there any way of finding out whether they transmit in IRDA or IR?And finally of the older boxes is the Samsung more relliable than the others,as there are lots of them on the e Bay site Reply appreciated Michael
