Re: Think they don't want my money

It is often better to show the actual connection stats at the same time.

If I were to run a speed test right now it would look very poor as my connection is "busy". The connection stats would be more stable.

Have you tried calling Sky again?

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

Re: Think they don't want my money

Costs so much plus waiting time (around 40 mins) to keep ringing Sky. Then we go through exactly the same nausea as they read from their llittle script each time! They used to be good but I think they've secretly been bought out by Talk Talk, at least from the customer support part!

The official stats look decent :

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8189 kbps 796 kbps
Line Attenuation 26.0 db 14.4 db
Noise Margin 7.8 db 13.5 db

but they don't tally with the actual results in real time.

We have detected that your ISP is Sky - Your current download speed is 1400Kbps, and your current upload speed is 653Kbps.

Re: Think they don't want my money

If you have signed up to Sky Broadband since September 2011 you will have to have had Sky Talk installed too. Prior to that there was a choice.

Since Sky Fibre was launched last Easter, you will now have Sky Talk.

If you call Sky from your land-line, the call to their call centre is free from a Sky Talk line at any time of the day or night on any day.

In some cases people have needed to call from their mobile phones (dead land-line, etc.). In these cases others have found that a simple request for Sky to call them back will result in just that.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB

Re: Think they don't want my money

After contacting Sky on 31/1/13, the equivalent of tier three specialist engineer got my download speed up to 13,000 kbps but once again it has now dropped to : Your current download speed is 3728Kbps, and your current upload speed is 397Kbps.

What's up with Sky? Are they aware they are shooting themselves in the foot and people are going over to BT and Virgin cable? Wish I could but cable not available in this area!

Sounds like there is a fault on your line. Can you post your line stats for us to look at?

If you dont know how to do it this post will help!

Are you using wireless or ethernet? Wireless is subject to interference which can cause very poor speeds.

      Connected via Ethernet cable.
Three months ago I got onto them yet again and their tier 3 expert got the speed back up to 13,000 ish kbps and a download speed of about 9MB per sec.

Over the weeks the speed's fallen AGAIN.

OK, Sky, you want to muck me about, take this disgruntled unhappy user off your books and stick your service. I'm off to BT unlimited!

(I know this is Sky user not the official site, but maybe one of their staff reads this - if they can read!)
