How difficult is it to leave Sky
I'm getting a bit fed up of Sky now.
My exchange/cabinet have been enabled for FTTC since last September and as I only get 3mb currently I was keen to get on it, but I thought I would wait, as with everyone else, patiently for Sky's offering.
So that arrived in April - awesome! Oh wait I'm on one of those exchanges Sky have not rolled it out to yet with absolutely no idea of when they will - will it be 1 month? Will it be 6 months?
So after waiting another 6 weeks since it's release I've had enough and will be leaving for greener and faster pastures.
So does anyone know how difficult a process it is to migrate from Sky LLU/SVBN to a BT line? Will I be without internet for a week etc?
Do I need a mac code?

Re: How difficult is it to leave Sky
Chances are you will be without Internet as the line needs to first move back to BT and then show active on their system before a new order can be placed - unless it's all changed now

Re: How difficult is it to leave Sky
Ok spoken with someone from ADSL24, my potential new ISP.
They say there should be only a maximum interruption of 1 day of internet, but usually none at all as they take over the line and then provision the fibre on the same day.
No mac code required.
This is good news.

Re: How difficult is it to leave Sky
No problem, I have wondered the same for a while and all the broadband related forums I searched no one seems to have ever reported on moving from Sky to elsewhere!
I've now gone with ADSL24 for both line rental and Fibre.
I had an original activation date of 27th June, but Openreach weren't able to do the Fibre until the 3rd July so they have pushed my activation date back to that as well so I don't lose any internet.
Will report back on the 3rd (hopefully!) and let you know how it went.

And we are go!
The nice BT man took 20 minutes and I was all set.

Phone line still isn't up yet and will be done later on today, but you don't need it working for fibre.
