      Wireless Connection is very weak

      Hi there,

I have had a problem for a while now that my Wireless signal is not available in any of my upstairs rooms in the house. I have the "top " sky package (that's a laugh) and I am considering leaving them for someone else.

Here are my Router stats, if anyone can help me out.

      System Up Time 409:58:24
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 3743131 6865242 0 246 2888 409:57:51
      LAN 10M/100M 4138605 2522709 0 490 252 409:58:21
      WLAN 11M/54M/108M 3418419 2163106 0 2602 158 409:58:14

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4092 kbps 796 kbps
Line Attenuation 40.0 db 24.9 db
Noise Margin 6.8 db 15.7 db

My router is connected into the main phone socket in the house, although I do have other, currently unused, sockets in my 3 upstairs bedrooms.

I assume you've tried changing the channel on the router? If not, that's the first thing to do

Regarding the connection itself, plug into the test socket repost your stats - speed is a little low but you'll never get into the teens

It is currently on Channel 6. What should it be on?

Try all of them, it's trial and error

That's a handy tip. I was unaware of that!! I'll give it ago and see if it improves the signal. Should I expect to have a wireless signal completly thorughout my house? Or am I bing optimistic!

Channel 13 is often good. If you like download InSSider from the link below and use this to discover the channels in use in your area. Set yours to one as far from those in use as possible.

Improving your speed should be your first concern, your should get at least double what you are. Plug into the Test socket.

I have been told by the tech support at Sky that 4mb is about the most I can get. Despite me being on an upto 20mb package

      That's the issue - UP TO 20Mbps

      This covers 512kbps to 20Mbps

With your present setup they are correct. Your internal wiring is probably causing interference.
