Question Connection Drops

Hi all i have been with sky for about 3 month now and i have repetitive connection drops while i have been with them. I am on the unlimited package, this tends to happen when the landlines are picked up to make / receive a call but can also happen randomly and is getting quite annoying. When this happend the ADSL light sometimes is amber but also sometimes green , the only solution is to power down the router for a few minutes then power it back on - and this doesn't work all the time. I have also the noticed the dail tone is quite 'funny' when i dail out there a clicks with no normal ringing. I was also was receiving Download speeds of 1.8mb/s within the training period and has gotten slower , it's currently at 1.25mb/s

Re: Connection Drops

That is either a faulty filter (easy fix) or a line fault (not so easy), if it is a line fault, it is called a high resistance fault and the extra load a voice call puts on the line causes it to break down and drop your bb connection.

It is normally a problem at either the pole or the green cabinet. Once you have checked/replaced your filters then you need to report it to Sky.

Re: Connection Drops

Hi i have replaced the filter where the modem connects to the phoneline , would these needed to be replaced throughout ? I do think it is a fault , as we had one when we where on NAIMS ( not their fault , BT's ) with high static on the phone.

this is not any answer to you question but just a foot note, info i have marked with "X" is not needed to sort your problem and would not need to be posted (no idea if its a security risk, but always better to be safe)

Re: Connection Drops

Hi i have changed it thanks for that ! i am currently connect through the master socket via the faceplate of BT socket. My connection does not drop when a incoming call is made or when the phone is picked up. I guess the phones are creating a high resistance fault , or internal wiring is causing the problem? we have had multipul phones both wireless and corded all with the same results. the dail tone is 'two - tone' if this helps.

results connected via master socket

Not sure, but this could mean you have calls on the 'answer machine'.

If you have extensions wired to the faceplate of the master socket, you should try your stats from the Test socket, link below.

Your download speed should be higher, what OS are you using?
