Sky ripped us off !!
This incident not just happened to me but a friend as well !!
Anyway, Transferred to PO phone package at end Nov as well as received a letter of conf thru post,,, also cancelled my Sky TV till mid Dec,, was told to call back in Dec to ask for a refund,, well called them recently to claim my refund but only to be told my Sky talk was still ACTIVE,,Now , I wasn't aware that I had to pay '2' call providers for the 1st 2 weeks in Dec,,, when PO took over I would have presumed that all call charges are taken over by them also & sky talk would have ceased on the day PO took over,,,,,,,,
Also, it happened to a friend also, His sky tv was not due to cancelled till end Dec & he has already using his O2 bb at beginning of Dec from the mac code provided by Sky & moved back to BT for phone package,, however he recently shocked to receive a letter from sky this week to say his sky BB & talk package was still active & won't be terminated till end of DEC when his sky TV finishes,,,, Now he is fuming as to why Sky is still charging him bb & talk when he has already migrated to another provider which meant he is being charge for services he don't even use,,,,
Needless to say, I bet if we still had our sky tv, sky would still be charging us sky bb & talk package even thou we are still using another provider,, but because we cancelled our Sky TV, they had no choice to cancel all services,,,,,, I am so glad to get rid of Sky crap !!

Re: Sky ripped us off !!
You must give 30 days notice to cancel, this will be charged.
Anything more than that and you should get a refund.

Re: Sky ripped us off !!
I don't know where the hell I am with BSkyB ;(
Signed up 21/11/2009
Sky TV Professionally installed by a very experienced guy.26/11/2009
Signed for 2 pack billed for 3 pack -- first problem
Sky Talk and the lamentable [904 Kbs] Broadband dsl went live 07/12/2009
Complained ,complained and complained again so bad was the service and Customer Care iif you can call it that -- we decided to cancel last Saturday 12/12/2009 I had asked at least three times for a MAC code to go back to BT and told that it wold be with me in a matter of 5 days or so EIGHT days later still no MAC. Still waiting
I have rang 08442 41 41 41 going through the IVR security until I am b*****y sick of giving phone number-post code-and date of birth only to be asked all over again when one eventually gets connected
Eventually, yesterday 17/12/2009, I rang OfCOM who created a complaint file and who said they would e-mail Sky and tell them they must issue me with a Migration Authorisation Code within the statutary FIVE if not they would be breaking the Law.
I now desperately need to know how the ceasation of my adsl will take place...
Does anyone know the procedure and timeframe that Sky adopt to terminate all my services and allow me to return to another phone/ISP company???
Please HELP I am in a dark tunnel with no light at the end of it (

Re: Sky ripped us off !!
Did you get phone line rental with Sky? if you didn't then when you get your MAC, you should be able to move quite quickly, usually within 10 days but that will depend on when you get it and the ISP you give it to.
If you have Sky line rental and are on their SVBN network then this may take quite bit longer, if you can only get Sky Connect on your exchange then the good news is that you cannot be on the SVBN network (about the only good thing with Sky Connect).

@Sky_Nightmare
Maybe if you had came here and asked for help, you would not have had the problems you have. I can assure you many have come on here ranting about their poor broadband and have ended up very happy chappies. Sky suppport, especially the lower echelon, is dire, that is why this forum is so successful and have helped thousands of users.

Re: Sky ripped us off !!
Remember Sky can carry the calls for 120 days until a new provider takes over. You wouldn't want to be left without a telephone now, would you?

OK, old post - but to say we're dire is a bit rich...I was an excellent employee, knowledgable and always helped as much as possible, even going out of process to help some people...

I know you were, but can you in all honesty say that Tier 1 is 'excellent', I don't think so.There are some who are good, but they are few and far between, most simply read from a script and have little actual knowledge of what is required. The CST on the other hand are knowledgeable and can be of great assistance, unfortunately getting to them is sometimes impossible.

unfortunately sky's hiring process for Tier 1 is terrible.. if you know how to get into the control panel on a pc then you are hired >.<
most of the people in Tier 1 care very little about sky or broadband and do the bare minimum(read from a screen without thinking). There are definately some good Tier 1 agents about but they have learnt from CST, skyuser and general out of work info-building. sky dont seem to want tier 1 to be trained any further, as far as they are concerned Tier 1 dont need to know what SNR or attenuation is! to be honest if anything the training seems to be going downhill.
i have seen internet light off tickets opened for CST where the router is simply getting no power, after speaking with the agent from Tier 1 he simply said "the internet light was off" and put no thought into the fact that with no lights at all showing on the router it was going to be down to a power issue. i've also seen tickets open for CST simply stating "customer having problems with emails".
rant over
