Angry Irish bt line!

When sky changed my Midi package to Everyday my speed went from 5.1to 4.3 Mbs because i was told this was all the line would take
If I change to Unlimited what speed will it go down to as they will still be using the same line?

At the last change I lost the connection for six complete days out of eighteen and one bright broadband adviser even told me I would have to contact the makers of my computer. ( home made) all because of no green light on the router. ( have two) that was after trying to get me to check my ip address.
No wonder they want us to phone an 0844 number!
Where do they get them from?

Re: Irish bt line!

The line will be the same so nothing should change speed wise for you as you will be below the speed for everyday and unlimited.

That said, you should have gotten the same speed as you had before, chances are that they put you on ADSL2 profile instead of the G.DMT which deals with long lines like yours better.

Maybe this time when DLM runs it will sort it out for you

Re: Irish bt line!

When your package was changed you were probably put on ADSL2+ which will account for the slight drop in speed, this shouldn't now change if you upgrade to Max. However DLM (line training) would be put on your line again which may mess up your current speeds so you'll have to keep an eye on it after the 10 day DLM period.

Please post your router stats so we can see if there's any available speed to be had.

So did he at the same time!!! You were a fraction ahead in pressing the button.

Wait till you see the stats before you jump on the ADSL2+/G.DMT bandwagon. It just looks like he has been capped too low.

I didn't jump on it, I just said that there was a chance.

Anyway, wait till you see the stats before you jump on the "capped to low" bandwagon. It just looks like he has been put on G.DMT.

I think you may have meant 'put on ADSL2+' but with his reasonably high speed, his line is not over long and should not be too bothered by ADSL2+.
